Thimbleful Thursday 30/04/2015: Jump The Gun

May 2, 2015

A new writing venture that I hope Becomes A Thing; Thimbleful Thursday is a week-long challenge every Thursday to write a piece of micro-fiction (90-110 words) on a specified topic. This week’s challenge is ‘Jump The Gun’, and this is my entry. Enjoy!

“Oh, no,” said the dwarf. “You really should not have shot him with that arrow.”

“But he was right there!” The hero pointed to the balcony where the villain once stood.

“Yes, but you’re supposed to allow them to do monologues.”

“He slaughtered hundreds of innocents!”

“Yes, but now the quest is over. We all go home; no more magical trinkets, or awesome weaponry, or spontaneous bar fights.”

The elf snorted. “Or any ‘happy ever afters’.”

“Well, sod the lot of you,” the hero stormed off. “I quit.”

The dwarf shook his head. “Killing a villain. Typical novice mistake, that.”
